OSDA blends quick-turn agility with full-service electronics manufacturing, making us a trusted partner across medical, defense, robotics, and industrial sectors. From prototype builds to large-scale production, we deliver the speed, reliability, and consistency you need to succeed.
Beyond prototypes, we offer the scale and capability to support everything from pilot runs to full production. All stages of assembly—SMT, thru-hole, box build, and testing—are handled in-house, ensuring complete control over quality and timing.
Our 17,000-square-foot facility in Milford, Connecticut is equipped with modern EMS equipment and a highly trained workforce. Certified to ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015, we ensure our teams remain current on emerging industry practices. This combination of experience, technology, and people enables us to deliver reliable prototypes and production volumes on time and to exact specifications.
Today, OSDA consistently outperforms both larger and smaller competitors by working effectively within the tightest production schedules.
OSDA has grown from a 2,000-square-foot startup in 1987 to a modern 20,000-square-foot facility today. From the very beginning, our focus has been the same: delivering reliable, quick-turn PCB assembly, whether for prototypes or production builds.
In October 1987, George Grom and Dave Ingraham founded OSDA as a 2,000-square-foot EMS startup providing manual thru-hole assembly services. At the time, many companies were shifting away from in-house manufacturing to focus on engineering and marketing, creating an opportunity for reliable electronics manufacturing partners. This was the beginning of what became the EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) industry.
By 1988, OSDA had embraced the emerging PCB assembly technology, surface mount technology (SMT), investing in a Zevatech 350 pick-and-place machine capable of 1,500 components per hour. As demand grew, we continued upgrading equipment until 1992, when Mydata lines increased our capacity to 3,600 components per hour. By 1996, the addition of a third Mydata system pushed throughput to more than 15,000 components per hour.
The internet and startup boom of the early 2000s brought a new urgency to product development. OSDA responded by sharpening our focus on rapid prototyping and quick-turn PCB assembly, helping emerging businesses take advantage of narrow market windows. To meet demand, we transitioned to high-speed Fuji SMT platforms, expanding capacity to more than 120,000 components per hour.
Over the following years, OSDA continued investing in advanced technologies, adding automated optical inspection (AOI), selective soldering, automated warehousing, point-to-point testing, and enhanced MRP systems. Most recently, X-ray inspection was introduced to further strengthen quality control. Alongside these upgrades, we achieved ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 certifications, underscoring our commitment to delivering quick-turn assemblies that work right out of the box.
For more than 30 years, OSDA has helped customers bring designs to life with speed, precision, and consistency. From rapid prototypes to full-scale production, we combine proven experience with state-of-the-art equipment to deliver results you can depend on.
Our certifications demonstrate OSDA’s commitment to globally recognized quality systems in electronics manufacturing. From medical devices to defense assemblies, we maintain compliance and reliability at every stage of production.
OSDA is committed to continuous quality improvement. As a quick-turn specialist, we operate with a zero learning curve. That means we process numerous new assemblies each week, often with required deliveries of four days or less. With these strict demands, we do not have the luxury of time to “learn” how to build something — we must get it right the first time.
Engineers working under tight schedules rely on OSDA to introduce new products on time and in working condition. With our certified processes and quick-turn capabilities, we consistently deliver assemblies that work right out of the box — whether for product launches, trade show deadlines, or critical production needs.
Behind every project is a team of professionals who bring decades of experience in electronics contract manufacturing. Trained to IPC-A-610 standards and supported by an in-house training facility, our workforce ensures that every prototype and production build meets the highest levels of quality and reliability.
Bill assures that OSDA maintains the level of Quality and Efficiency that our customers have come to expect. In this capacity Bill is responsible for SPC, root cause analysis, lean manufacturing and our continuous improvement programs. Bill also manages our documentation department, assuring that customer files are quickly reviewed and integrated into our paperless, processing system. His 12 years of experience prior to joining OSDA included managing materials for a large EMS, buying and selling brokered components and specializing in obsolete or long lead-time items for a start-up company, consulting in ESD implementation and providing the materials to ensure a static-free workplace.
