Market Conditions 2017
Today, as businesses operate in the age of information, we wanted to make you aware of market conditions in the components industry. The good news is that manufacturers must be getting busy. The bad news is that we are seeing some component shortages and lead times being extended. Although we certainly don’t want to imply any crisis conditions, we do recommend you review any orders that you may need to place in the next few weeks and see if they might be affected.
Understand when you place an order with OSDA, you still get to schedule them to your needs. But a little planning now may save you some consternation later.
Just as our component vendors and manufacturing representatives relay information to us in regards to procurement and scheduling of components, we would like to do the same for our customers. We understand that annual forecasting plays an instrumental part in accurate and efficient planning for project deadlines. So, we would just like to notify all the engineers, buyers and project managers that we have noticed an increase in lead-time waits for multiple categories of product lines scattered throughout the spectrum of electronic components.
Tantalum capacitors are looking to have upwards of 16-17 week lead-times. Certain metal film resistors even have 26 week lead-times. Ultimately we just want you to be aware of the current component procurement environment so that you don’t experience any surprises when planning for product builds. If you have any questions or seek additional information, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
